Angry Trac off light on again.....

Well this is my first post but straight to the issue at hand, I purchased a used 99 alero gx with the 2.4 a little under a month ago. The track off light has come on twice in the time that I have had it. The first time when I took it back the said it was a oxygen sensor in the computer that tiggered it. They fixed it by reprograming the computer and said everything was fine. That was about a week ago and well now it has come on again. Is this a common/constant problem, and is there a permanent fix? Unfortunitly my warranty is gonna be up next weds, so any help is welcome.

Thanks, I'm glad I found this place.

Unhappy

Well I got my Alero back today. They had to replace the oxygen sensor, but at least I didn't have to pay for it so I was happy for about 10 mins. Unfortunitly something new popped up on my way home.... Now the engine is sounding strange and the muffler has a half gergaled sound to it. My dad thinks the muffler might be going bad since the car has 90k on it. I just think I found the one & only car worst then the 89 Beretta Gt I just got rid of.

Any one have any ideas? Begs....

Re: Trac off light on again.....

Okay first to Fyre Specter: Why did they replace the O2 Sensor?!? That has nothing to do with your Trac off light being on.

To both of you: Usually when the light comes on while backing up, your wheel speed sensor is failing. I have a 2002 and this same exact problem happend with me except I also got the SVS light and the ABS light. Most people experience it with just the trac off light tho. Unfortunately, you also have to replace the entire hub assembly since the speed sensor is completely unserviceable or removeable from the car. This will cost a pretty penny. Many have paid abotu $400-600. Mine was fixed under warranty so I'm not sure exactly what it will cost.
