Different Aux ? (cig lighter)

can i just straight hook the cig input to the battery without having to worry about it burning out.......? and or should i put a fuse in the mix just incase
......
I got a 3 cig input adapter i'll probably just splice the wires to that , that way i dont have to rip nothing apart and maybe one day fix the original one.
Your input is well appreciated.
BTW I am new to this form just got this escort 92 model.......not the greatest vehicle in the world but it runs.

Im a real big believer in fuses if they blow there is a reason I would NOT bypass or go without one. I have seen cars catch on fire for the same reason. If you can handle spliceing wires im assuming you are comfortable enough to get a volt/ohm/current metere and checking voltages and for shorts.

Thier must be a fuse for it you could get lucky and just replacing it may help but your right to start with basics of looking at connections and surfaces. (I had a car once where the plug needed to be cleaned oxidation was working against me)~alway start simple let us know.
