Thumbs up Your opinion on headers.

I'm trying to decide which headers to get. I've heard good things about the DC Sports Ceramic 4-2-1. All of my buddies have them, but now it's my turn to get headers. If there are no ones better than those I'll go for them. However, I like to try something different. Perhaps, the Greddy Stainless Steel 4-2-1, Neuspeed N2, Powercore, or Comptech. Anyone want to make any comments about them? I want as much power as possible from i/h/e.

Re: Your opinion on headers.

I would say go with DC, but I don't have any experience with others. Also, if you want to get the most out of i/h/e, you might want to consider a cold air intake. I know there has been some discusion about air temp dif between the two, but I think the cold air is better.............fISH

the 4-2-1 will give u more low-mid end power while the 4-1 will get u more top end power. And if thats ur car in ur sig majinvegeta290 , i will stick with the 4-2-1 headers. the 4-1 headers sits really low to the ground and creates clearance issues on lowered vehicles (like yours). my 4-1 header has bottomed out a few times and has dented the bottom of the manifold a bit. the 4-2-1 will give a little bit more clearance.
i would stick with DC sports. i was gonna get a set of those but i didnt have the cash for them. i baught a TSUDO 4-1 header which is the same design as the dc 4-1 header. i paid $155 for it shipped. You can get dc headers on ebay for around $230 shipped.

Re: Your opinion on headers.

If you want ultimate performance, look for a header with a 2.5" collector like the JDM ITR, JDM DC, Mugen, TODA, Hytech, or DTR. If you don't want to spend the money for one of those, the Comptech will make the most power of the ones you mentioned. Other than that, go with the DC.

Oh yeah, I have a two piece cold air intake. It just wasn't installed when I took that picture. Had to mod it! from silver to metallic black.

IT seems like the DC Ceramic is the way to go. I'll take that to consideration. But, this is what I have in mind. I always hear that LS is stronger on the low-end and GSR are strong at the high-end. Also that the LS lack at highend. So, what if I work on getting more high-end for the LS. (getting high-end performance parts ) Wouldn't that be a good combination for the LS? It's just what I've always thought it to be, or I'm just completely off and makes no sense? thanks for the replies.

Re: Your opinion on headers.

It's a decent one, but the whole 4-1 for high end and 4-2-1 for low end is a myth. The dimensions of the header itself make more difference than whether it's 4-1 or 4-2-1. The DC 4-2-1 makes as much high end power as the 4-1 according to a dyno sheet I saw somewhere. The DC 4-2-1 is a decent choice as long as you don't plan on modding it beyond 185 whp or so.

Why wouldn't this be good after 185 whp? What would be a high hp header?

if you want the street legal ones go for JG eldenlbrock..those are gurantee 6 hp + on stock exhaust system...that's what i have on my gsr and once i put it on i can feel the difference big time like my exhaust system ..they are 4-2-1 type..but cost around 500 to 800 depending on what type of materials you like.....i don't know if you wanna spent that much...

I'm planning to get the full exhaust system sometime soon after the headers. Since it work good on stock exhaust, then should it work a lot better on an aftermarket one right?

Aren't DC 4-2-1 Ceramic street legal as well, and cheaper? What might be the overall difference in power between the DC and JG?
The JG eldenlbrock sounds good. I found 550$ on the site below. Is that a fair price or I can find it elsewhere cheaper.

Re: Your opinion on headers.

that's cheap enough because they're expensive stuff..yeah the d.c hearders are street legal, and the jg headers would even help more on aftermarket exhaust system...the d.c headers vary's hp...

Man, the JG Edelbrock headers sound a whole lot better than the DC. I can't believe the DC only produced 3 for vtec *GSR* That's certainly not worth 400 bucks. As the dyno tested, the INTAKE produced more power than the headers. That's whack. Maybe, I should go for the JG Edelbrock Ceramic instead.

Re: Your opinion on headers.

when you put on the jg headers you'lll fell it right a way..it feels as strong as putting in a exhaust system...but it's just the price that kills you espcially on the polish jg headers...

ive always heard that the ceramic is better in performance but they dont last as long as the stainless steel. the stainless isnt as good in performance.. and that they can crack?

Re: Your opinion on headers.

I'd go with a stainless Comptech. You get what you pay for...
