actually ....no. It can work with some mods. Like cut out the plug from your stock dist and replace it on the obd1.

So you are saying that with a little swaping of some wires it can work?
I'm thinking of doing a mini me and have the dizzy from that D16Y8 engine but not the ECU, I know that the 0BD0 dizzy will fit but can only use 2 of the 3 bolts.

Re: Will obd-1 dizzy fit my crx obd-0

..that's not all it takes to use an OBD1 ecu.. I really dont think its compatible unless some internals are swapped.

either way, an obd0 dizzy will bolt right up to a y8 head..its the z6 heads that have teh problems.

No, it wont work. The reluctor inside the OBD-0 and OBD-1 distributors are different. They have a different number of teeth on them. OBD-2 have the same as the OBD-1.
It's not the wiring that's the problem, it's that the number of electrical pulses sent to the ECU are different. The ECU doesn't like it and runs like crap.
To use an obd1 dizzy, ur gonna have to convert to obd1 or modify the internals. If you use a z6 motor you have to modify your mounting tabs on your a6 dizzy to work. (if you don't want to convert to obd1).

No The OBD1 dizzy works different than a OBD0 it will not fire at all. there are more teeth on the bottom of the sharft that tell the computer when to fire so it will not work NO AGAIN IT WILL NOT WORK.

Wow,
So the Y8 has a diffrent dizzy then the Z6???
I friend has a Z6 he wants to sell to me but I would rather the 0bd0 si dizzy bolt using the 3 bolts the just the 2.

Thankx,

Re: Will obd-1 dizzy fit my crx obd-0

an OBD1 distributor will not work with an OBD0 ECU, period. a 95 DX distributor WILL however bolt directly onto your engine, but you cannot use it without swapping to OBD1.

As far as modifying distributor "legs" to fit Z6 head, there is no problem whatsoever with doing this. two bolts hold it fine. i've had 2 Z6 heads over the years and am still using my 88 CRX HF distributor which has been modified. it doesnt leak a drop of oil. it doesnt go out of time.

Re: Will obd-1 dizzy fit my crx obd-0

OK really simply now OK.....
a Y8/ and pretty much ALL FREEKING OBD2 D SERIES HEADS WILL ACEPT OBD0 DISTRO'S WITH NO I REPEAT NO MODS ok
a Z6 and all OBD-1 heads will NOT IN NO WAY accept a OBD0 distro without cutting a leg off ok vis versa....also keep in mind obd-0 is different from all other generations obd-1 and 2 can interchange for the most part OK DOKEeEEE

you are wrong, sir.

The D16Z6 has a unique bolt pattern, but as for the 1.5 non VTEC obd1 engines (d15b7, d15b8), they have the same bolt pattern as all OBD0 and OBDII heads. Also, you do not cut a leg off the distributor to get it to fit. you simply notch out the top and front legs to allow the distributor to use those two bolts and still have adjustable timing.

dssmax: i have the stage 2 comp/zex 59300 cam

ALL SOHC D SERIES HEADS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE REGARDLESS OF OBD GENERATION.
