performance struts?

I have a 97 gp gtp with 96k miles. I reacently took a trip with the family and with just the luggage in the trunk the car looked low. With passangers it looked lower. I was wondering how to tell if the struts(shocks) need replacing and what is a good performance strut to buy for a good price. Any oppinions?

Re: performance struts?

if you do replace them i have heard nothing but good things about KYB GR-2 Replacement Struts, and i will be putting them on my grand prix very soon as well. they will also provide moderate handling improvements and a much smoother and more comfortable ride compared to stock

Well if anything needs replacing it is probably the springs. Shocks and struts don't support the weight of the car, springs do. If you need new springs the car will ride low to the ground with little or no load in the trunk or rear seat. If you need shocks or struts, the car bill bounce for a few seconds after you hit a dip in the road. Hope this helps.
