My son just got a B16a with a J1 (cable) trans for his 88 civic. What are the hoses coming out by the speedo cable?

Re: J1 trans Hoses?
They come out of the transmission from the housing where the speedo cable connects. The speedo cable comes straight down (vertical) into a housing about 2 1/2" across. The 2 lines in question have barbed fittings and come out of the same housing at about a 45° angle toward the passenger side. The B16A did have a pwr steering pump on it but we weren't planning on using it.Thanx

yeah those are the p/s bypass valves. forget that and just use your stock civic speedometer cable, it will fit
