Angry Humming Injen Intake and idle drop problem

I have a injen intake for my 2002 dodge neon SXT but when the car sits at idle the intake begins to humm ... a LOUD hum. It normaly does it when it's warm out (when around freezing it wont hum) the hum is so load that it will shake the mirrors of the car next to me at a light.

I also i have problem when i'm sitting idle i\the RPM's drop down a few 100ed and stay there but if I rev the engine then it will spike back to where she should be, just below 1000.

can anyone help? i also get a 1685 or 84 fault code error but i think that's just that the battary has been removed in the last 50 starts.

Re: Humming Injen Intake and idle drop problem

It's been to the shop they were less then helpful in the matter ... so they raped me $80 to tell me my O2 sensor was bad .. it might have been but it didn't solve the problem(never really thought it would) it just really sucks $260 to pretty up my garage wall.

Does anyone else have a INJEN intake in there SOHC Noen?

I'm only posting what I've had experiences with, so bear with me here...at stoplights my engine idle would drop really low and be VERY rough. I found out that the power steering pump valves "stick" when over a certain speed or something like that. A light tap on the gas or a quick turn of the steering wheel stops it. Try either of em to get rid of that low rough idle. If nothing happens, it's something else...

Your intake hums? hehe. Injen is a metal intake correct? Could be some serious vibration going on, especially if you have the rough idle problem. Just make sure there's no rubbing going on with the intake, and focus on solving the rough idle. I have 2 sets of Rex motor mount inserts in, and an Iceman intake, no problems (except that wierd power steering thing, I just jerk the wheel when it starts and it immediately stops).

Just throwin out idears...
