whats a good yr

whats the ideal year for a eclipse/talon and why? what problems should i take into consideration when buying one of these cars? is the awd versions very problemactic? some input would be great

For reliability and ease of upping the HP I'd say a first generation 1992-1994 5sp AWD. The only real problem with the AWD is the transfer case leak and there is a recall on that. 2nd generation ones have a smaller turbo, and there's a few years with a serious condition called crankwalk. 3rd generation Eclipse's are not even worth considering IMO.

I wouldn't even consider a non AWD one...that is the real beauty of these cars, the AWD. Even bone stock they are a blast to drive and a few simple, free or cheap mods can make them fairly fast and still retain reasonable reliability.
