how long after you start the car and the overheating, min. or longer, is the radiator hot also or just the temp gauge reading hot. Did you r&r the thermostat or a shop. I don't think the smoke is anything to worry about but the more info the better. If your head gasket is blown you'll get coolant in your oil which creates bubbles.

Re: Need Help On My 3000gt Vr4

I've replaced a thermostat with a brand new one only to have it fail. If it's the thermostat the raidator should stay cold and you should over heat very fast. Those bubbles will show up on your dipstick. Not to doubt your mech. abilty but is there any chance of the therm in backwards. There is chance the old therm was only opening partialy and the new not opening at all. The pain threshold for heat is 140 digrees when I said cold above I ment anything up to the pain threshold.

Is there a chance that stopleak has cloged the radiator?

How much of the cars history do you know about. There some real crap out there sold to stop leaks in radiators it does work but in time it clogs up the whole radiator. This could have been put in by a previous owner?

Re: Need Help On My 3000gt Vr4

i dont know anything about the radiator... but the guy i bought it from kept it in real good shape... when i bougth it, it was all stock. he had papers showing that he went and got the timing belts replace recently ($1000 bill) and other stuff... the car history was clean... the car is in great shape. and i have had it for like 5 months with no problems till now. i think its just the old age geting to it... its a 92 with 120,000 miles on it...

Re: Need Help On My 3000gt Vr4

and all i have done most likely did not cause it to this... i have put turbo back exhaust, air filter, and a turbo timer so far. infact i went to go get a new intercooler y pipe, hks blow off vaulve, and a boost control. when i was comeing home it started to over heat about 5 miles down the road to my house...

Re: Need Help On My 3000gt Vr4

At 120k the timing belt should have been done twice With the belt they always change the water pump so its not the water pump. Give a quick look on the dipstick for bubbles and I'll do some more thinking.

Re: Need Help On My 3000gt Vr4

let the car idle till it over heats (not till it stops it self), then check radiator for intense heat and oil for bubbles get back to me at [email protected]
