88 ranger trans replacment

i have an 88 ranger,2 wheel drive,5 speed manual trans.2.9 liter fuel injected.trans is history. does anyone know if 5 speed trans. out of 92 ranger 2wheel drive with2.5 4 cyl. will fit. i.d. tag on old trans. is E87A NF 19058. new trans is out of state,and i need to know if their the same before i buy it.
