I have 93 Pylmouth Voyager, the other day while running the a/c the air now only comes out the bottom to the top of the dash (defrost).
When I push the button on the selector the only one that works is the defrost. I know ( or think ) that the vents are controlled by vacuum. I do have vacuum since it will blow out the top of the dash. What controlls the center vents? There most be somewhere a vacuum door of some sort that will close or open for te center vents to work. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks John |

Just a thought - Most ac/heater units use engine vacumn to actuate the internal directional vents. With no vacumn, air just comes out the defroster or floor vents (default). You might try looking in the engine compartment on the firewall for either a broken or disconnected vacumn hose that goes into the firewall.

I tried that, I found the vacuum line and disconnected it and the blower went to the defrost mode when set for the floor.
So I do have vacuum in the system. I just can't get the air to come out from the middle vents. |

Ok you push for panel vent you get floor.
you push for panel and floor you get floor. you push for floor you get floor. you push for defrost you get defrost. So no matter which button you push you never get the panel vent to work. They worked last week thou. Every once in a while while driving the center would turn off then turn right back on. Where is the passage way that outputs the air to the panel vents? Is it behind the glove box? |
