1996 Maxima SE Bose Stereo System Problems
Factory installed 8 speaker Bose, radio, cassette, CD stereo system has been working flawlessly since new. Recenty, after starting the car,the Bose system would not come on.Checking the fuse block I found two fuses, one marked Bose the other marked stereo; both of these fuses were okay. After discussing the problem with a local stereo shop, they recommended that I disconnect and reconnect the car positive battery cable to reset the Bose system. After I did that the system worked great until I turned off the ignition, at which time I was brought back to square one; once again the system would not work at all. Before I remove the Bose system from the car and send it out for factory repair at a suggested flat rate of $225.00, I'am hoping that some one may have had a similar problem and can offer any suggestions short of sending the stereo unit out to the factory for repair. Thank you very much Ed Weaver, Ocala Fl. |

Whatup man...first of all...its 6 speakers. I have the same stereo in my 95 GLE...its absolutely amazing. If u were to install a new head unit, and speakers for the whole car, it would be like at least 500. Send it to Bose, man...they make the best speakers in the world.

Problem with Bose
Hey man,
I also have a Bose 6 speaker system and it does sound great! I haven't had any problems with it yet (knock on wood), but I was thinking that it might be with the power supply wire itself. Have you tried tracing the wire back to the radio, maybe looking for worn spots where it could short out or something? May not be the trick, but it couldn't hurt, right? Especially when you might have the cost of replacing the whole system vs. a 0.75 cent piece of wire, ya know? As I said, it may not be it, but It couldn't hurt. Later. T.R.

I think you have a good idea. I'm going to pull the unit loose from the dash and have good look at all the wires and connections. Who knows I might accidently fix this dang thing. Thanks again. E.C.W. p.s. How come I didn't think of that? |

Re: 1996 Maxima SE Bose Stereo System Problems
Ed-
I'm having the same problem with the Bose stereo in my '96 Maxima. Were you able to find a solution? It was working fine and then just like that, it wouldn't turn on. I've checked the fuses, they are good. Not sure what else to do. - Jeff |
