Question Speedometer and odometer not working '99

Speedometer and odometer worked fine one day and don't work at all the next on '99 Voyager. My wife was driving when she dicovered it didn't work. I hopped in today to investigate and the check engine light came on after I drove about a block. Wife says this light was not on when she discovered the speedometer didn't work. Any ideas?

check the speed sensor on the axel.
They are know to go bad...

The speed sensor is on the driver side, it is rather large in size and has a 2 wire plug on it.

They may be 2 of them side by side about 6 inchs apart.

You should be able to change them from the top.

If the check engine light is lit you can scan the codes and be sure it is bad, it will show up as an error code, not sure what number.

Thanks, bigjohnjr

I appreciate the help. I hate to ask this, but I don't know how to check the error codes. Can you point me in the right direction? I've done my share of auto work, but have not had a need to do this in the past.

Thanks!
