GST - Update... and i need help! (yes i said "i need help")

ok the car is running fine now although i felt no boost at first and i couldnt here the BOV! so i was like WTF and i immediatly thought of a boost leak so i shut down the motor and remembered that i forgot to clamp the LICP to the intercooler so it blew off... well when i put it back on the car started idling really gay... so i checked timing and it was right on! so i took the intercooler pipe back off at it started to run just fine again! WTF is up with that? its starting to piss me off and i'm not liking it... anyways i dont know if the MAS has anything to do with it, i have a spare i am about to check it using that and see if that helps... who knows! i have the MAP sensor hooked up to a vacuum hose that runs directly to the manifold, the TPS is fine... i tested the resistance on that it its good! the CAS is fine... i have excellent fuel pressure and i can hear the injectors firing, spark is just fine... now another thing that has me in a twist, the coil pack and firing order! i am using the stock 2g coil pack and it has always worked just fine. compression is fine, just put a rebuilt head on with all new gaskets last night and now its all acting wierd! any thoughts? thanks in advance guys, any help is greatly appreciated!

Reset the ECU maybe? That seems to work for me from time to time.

The car should barely run at all with the LICP disconnected and a stock MAS. I'll have to think that one over for a bit...

Jake, I'm not saying get a wrx or a miata...

I'm saying get something that you wont have to waste all your free time having to fix.

Re: GST - Update... and i need help! (yes i said "i need help")

ok well i can get the car to run "ok" but i am still having problems with the idle and rev, while it was running i unpluged the TPS and idle motor/sensor (whatever its called - underneath the TB) and it didnt do anything, didnt improve or worsen anything! so i am guessing one of them if not both are fucked up... but would that be the reason i cant rev the car? wont go past say 3k rpms with the LICP connected.

Do you have a CEL?

So when it goes upto 3k does it just stay there and build boost? Or does it die down to a low rpm?

Hey EclipseRST I had the exact same problem with my car. Then I found out that one of the sensors were bad. I dont really know what the sensor is called but I will tell you exactly where its located. Here goes.....

If you are standing in front of the drivers side front 1/4 panel and looking in at the engine this sensor is located about 8inches under the fuel line that goes into the fuel rail. (I had to remove my fuel line) to get to it. Follow the wire harness down and it is the first sensor that you come to on the back of the engine I believe there are 3 sensors back there. 2 of them are down low more towards your alternator. And the one I am talking about is up higher on the drivers side. Its a pretty big damn sensor. I had a spare one So I just swapped it and then started the car and the problem was all gone. Also sometimes for some odd (dsm reason) the harness that gets plugged into it doesnt seem to fit sometimes and they have a little accordian looking rubber piece that goes around the female part of the harness that gets plugged into the sensor that I had to remove in order to plug it in properly. Check that sensor out. It could be that.

I am new to the turbo aspect so I do not know if it is has anything to do with that. But I have become very familiar with the engine.

Sorry for the long post guys.......

Yea... I have an idleling problem too. It hasn't run right since I replace the TPS, but it's also not shooting any codes out. If a sensor was bad wouldn't a code come out?
