Re: SKYLINE GTR vs HSV

Yes, it's a very good comparison, depending on choice of HSV. Let's see what they think in the Car Comparisons forum.

Re: SKYLINE GTR vs HSV

The platform of the HSV is based around that of GM's V Body (Omega, Catera) making it Rear Wheel drive, the Rear suspension is a Semi-trailing arms setup while the front is Mac struts (I think). The HSV models are fitted with an LS1 (5.7 V8, as per Corvette and Camaro) and a T56 6 speed manual transmission and it's a four door sedan (roughly same length as an Omega).

For comparisons sake I say we use the Clubsport R8. This car has a Brembo brake upgrade and 19 Inch wheels.

Power for the R8 is something like 285 Kw (350 bhp roughly) and weight is in the region of 1650 Kg.

In addition to that it has a tacky bodykit.

Interestingly enough, HSV has quite a GT-R competitor in its stable.

What doesn't?

Even still, gotta admit its a handsome coupe and with LS1 power a worthy AWD adversary.

Re: SKYLINE GTR vs HSV

Indeed, but they aren't even offering a manual, which I do find disappointing, but it does show how innovative the Ockers are if you give them a couple of spanners and a couple of million big ones....

honestly, i think the skyline would easily be the superior car in terms of performance. the skyline is lighter even with its awd, and although semi trailing arms do a good job, and generally perform better than solid rear axles, they tend to toe out, not the best for overall cornering performance. it isnt that dramatic though, just slightly noticeable, but they re good for tight, autoX style turning.

well, the skyline also weighs around 1600kg.

the hsv has more horsepower and more torque, but 6 seconds from 0-60mph?
how about 1/4 times, I could image they're pretty even, due to that shitty gear huh?

I can't decide so far, they're both pretty wicked

Re: SKYLINE GTR vs HSV

the R8 runs around 14.3 down the quarter
its no match for the GTR even in a straight line......compared to the GTR the R8 is a BIG brick...
sure it has more horsepower and torque.....but holden has alot of trouble getting that to the ground....and trying to keep the R8 with the GTR round the track is suicide for the R8 as they handle like an old corolla compared to the GTR

You revived a dead thread to give us the standard ricer "The GTR is God" speech?

Thread locked, comparison was already debated to death anyways.
