Question Air Conditioner Compressor clutch will not engage

Hi all! Got a problem with my air conditioner compressor clutch on my 90 Sable 3.0 L. I have just replaced the compressor but the clutch will not engage with A/C on max so I can't charge the system. I tested the pressure switch and it is good. I disconnected the connector from the clutch and checked for voltage but there was none. Have checked fuse 17 which is for clutch but it is good. Could it be the Integrated Control Module? If so, where is this thing located? Are there any fusible links to check in this circuit? If so, where are they located?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Air Conditioner Compressor clutch will not engage

The comp will not engage when empty because of the hi-lo pressure switch. You should be able to "jump" the circuit with a u-shaped piece of wire and bypass the switch. This will allow the comp to run constantly. The switch should be right by the charging port. Better make sure there's some oil still in the lines, or use an oil mix, or you could damage the new comp. I don't think you need to run the AC on MAX AC to charge it, that only opens the intake vent from the passenger compartment to recirculate the already cooled air. The comp doesn't vary it's cycles based on temp settings or fan speed selected.
