U-joint replacement
I need to replace a u-joint on my 1999 Suburban. Does it need to be pressed off and on? I did it 20 years ago on cars with a hammer. Any hints on how to R & R the u-joints. Thanks Dave

Re: U-joint replacement
AS far as i know, newer chevy/gmc u-joints are glued and need to be heated up and i think the glue pops out kinda like a pimple, but dont start hitting it with a hammer, thet will only benmd your yoke.

Re: U-joint replacement
Thanks for all the help from everyone. I bought new ones from NAPA and froze them. I dropped out the drive shaft and pulled the clips and used a butane torch to heat up the outer edges of the ring and drove out the old with a small pipe. Got the new parts from the freezer and drop them in. Too bad it did not stop the rummmble and vibration at 63 to 73 MPH. O well life goes on and I will keep looking for the problem. Dave

Re: Re: U-joint replacement
Have you tried balancing your tires? That can also cause a vibration like you're having.
