rear wiper

the rear wiper on my 2000 xls is not working properly the wiper only touches the half of the window it will come off the holder on the gate and not touch the window intill the wiper is pointing strait up the make contact with the window and only wipe half the window any clue what coused this or how to fix

havent had this problem but have seen it on a few maybe try to replace the wiper arm? not sure it will help but if the spring is bad it wont put pressure on the wiper to push against the window hope its of some help

I have the same problem with my 2000 Exploere (along with some other problems). Did you get any advice or try anything??

there is a cover at the end of the arm and it just lifts up. then a 1/2 in. nut. if you can take the nut off you can remove the arm and really clean it out.

ok so i replaced the wiper arm and it still only touches half the window any other ideas

i usually bend the arm, just a little.did you replace the wiper arm or the blade?

mine took some WD-40 and just worked it to lossen it up. Did also put on a new blade and it was fine after that!!!

i trird bending the arm just a little bit but the blade got stuck at the edge of the window and did not go any further had to bend it back

ford now has an updated part number for an arm with a stronger spring - it is much better but still misses spots - I have had good luck removing the original arm spring and replacing it with an old spring from past brake jobs
