window switch replacement

I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo and the window control switch on the driver's door is dead, and the driver's window is stuck in the down position. My dad found a switch from a 1997 Rodeo for considerably less than what a new 99 switch would cost. He wants to try that first even though the part numbers that are stamped on do not match. He thinks that the circuitry might be interchangeable even if the panel itself isn't. Will this work? Or should we just order a new 99 switch? Any advice about this or how to get the window up either manually or by jumping a wire would be helpful. Thankyou

Re: window switch replacement

I would find a salvage yard in your area and pick up a used one.
