My 03 gran prix gt just started making a whine when I accellerate last night... Umm I figure I should be honest and tell the whole story just to help trouble shooting:
I was in blockbuster parking lot with friends and when I left I decided to spin out while I was pulling a u-turn and after the turn and I caught tread again I heard the whine =( I was thinking maybe power steering or transmission, it makes it even if I'm in neutral and if increses with the rpms. Any suggestions pweese! I am religeous with the basic maitenence with all the fluids too btw.

Re: Do GM trannys Whine?
Turning the wheel, as in a turn, while burning out is VERY bad.
It will put tons of stress on the differential and could possibly snap the pinion shaft or weld the spyder gears to the shaft. Ive cracked the gears and snapped the set pin that hold the pinion shaft in. There is a speed sensor on the differential, it is possible to remove sensor and check for metal shavings. |

I will have to remember that when the male machoism sets in next time... but I found my problem to be an empty power steering reservour =)
