Angry HELP! stalling prob. w/ 3rd gen maxima

i have a 92 maxima se. im wondering if anyone else has been having this same problem.... while driving the motor will just cut out, then it will be fine. sometimes when it cuts out it stalls, but it starts right back up. other times when it cuts out(the rpms just drop, and it wont go) ill down shift and it will come right back. does anyone else have this problem with the motor just cutting out and coming back and cutting out over and over again? someone please help, its driving me crazy!!!

Re: stalling prob. w/ 3rd gen maxima

I also have the same problem on my 89 SE, the car never stalls but has a flat spot in the accelerator where the car just dies until I let off the pedal, once I hit the gas again several times it will seem to go as normal. Sometimes the RPM's will just drop and then start to fluctuate as if a sensor or switch is going off and on. I took it to a shop and they said it was the cap. I replaced the cap and it made no difference. I have also tried the following, replaced the throttle position sensor, fuel filter, tranny fluid, spark plugs, checked the computer codes and nothing changes. I was reading another forum and they suggested the crank sensor so I may try that and see if it makes any difference. I have been messing with this for over a month and am at my wits end.

I have a 2000 max se. Same/Similar problem. When on the highway,
I push in clutch as I am coming to red light (for example)
Tach goes down and keeps on going to zero - stall !

I re-start - all is ok. Drive for a while .. could be hours, or a couple of days later. coming to light, push in clutch - Tach starts to drop and
again stalls again. It is in Nissan service now as I write this, I just got
a call that they cannot get it to stall. It is intermittant and frustrating !!!

Is there an idle control valve or unit on these cars?
What can this be? Even Nissan does not seem to know - or isn't saying.
