lancer? oppinions?

ok, I want everyone with the 2002 lancer in the US to give me your opinions on your new car, I am thinkning of getting the OZ rally edition since it already has the pretty good rims and aluminum trimmed interior and the shift knowba nd wheel and whatevcer else it has sportier than the ES, and I wont have the money for rims for a few months so id ratrher have somehting than nothingh for these few months, then I am gfonna get 18" quantum Tek s-08's they are only 161 a peice for 18's and they are so nice! they are one of my favorite rims out there. they are propably heavy since they are so cheap. also, I will do things like I/H/E, I get everytthin exhaust wise for cost, my friends dad owns a mufler shop and i get free labor and pipe is like less than a dollar a foot and mufflers are like 35 bucks each.

18's....In your dreams...

If you intend on squeezing 18's under the fender of the OZ Rally, then your mistaken, or going to have a very narrow 20 series tire on them.

The max is a to fit under there with rubber mounted is a 225/45/R17
The max rolling Diameter you can have is 26 Inches. The above mentioned tire that I rates is at 25 and some fraction of an inch. You will rub with turning radius on your 18's no matter what tire you go with.
Go talk to a tire store, and measure. Maybe i'm wrong, but My guy at Big-O tires says no. He's the man who's been doing this for years, so I don't think he's wrong.

oh at les schwab it says that to keep the stock tire diameter of 23.5, thoruhg plus sizing, you can get 23.9 with a 215/40/18

because 18 inches plus 2 x 40% of 215mm which ius 6.75 inches about is 24 inches so i dont see what the problem is, as for rubbing, as long as i get the right offset and dotn get real wide, then it will be fine right?

for the price of this lancer i could have one of those "RICERS THAT SHOULDNT RACE" that would leave the lancer OZ behind like it was standing still. I just want to know peoples oppinions of this car because I would like to go new with warranty instead of a older car with a swap and SC. but think about a civic wiht a ITR swap and JRSC? cheaper and FAST! but no warranty. and my ins. co. dont like the idea of a car with a different than stock engine.

Angry 2002 Lancer opinions

Hey whats up. You said you wanted opinions on the Lancer OZ from people who own them. Well I have one and my honest opinion is that the car sucks. As much as I hate to say it you'ld be much better off getting a Civic for the price you'll have to pay. I've always owned Hondas first a 91 2.1 Prelude Si that I did considerable work on (15.4) quater mile times then an Acura Cl which was alot nicer car than the Lancer. The car is that bad though I haven't had anything go wrong it and it looks good, just don't expect to out run much except a Geo Metro. And who ever told you they out ran all those cars I'm calling B.S. on it especially the GS Integra usless it car has a bunch of work like maybe a Zex kit or something definately not a stock Oz Lancer.

for everybody that is putting down the us lancer...either shut up or grow a mullett and go join a camaro club . if you already bought the lancer and don't like it, you're a sucker. you test drove it, you saw the engine specs, you saw the sticker price, and you got what you paid for. if you're gonna come on to a forum and complain about how it's not fast enough or you're getting burned trying to race OTHER stock cars against OTHER people who have NO idea how to drive, then that's your fault. how are you gonna post something like "i'm running 17.5 at the drag strip" when your dumb ass bought an automatic anyways?? there are plenty of mods for this car already and it hasn't even been out a full year! the car has lots of potential, but unless you do some serious upgrades to EVERYTHING ON THE CAR, it's never gonna beat the rx-7 or the eclipse from that movie that you all love so much. if you're not satisfied with the performance of your lancer, go to the dealer you bought it from, shake the salesman's hand that sold you the car, tell him you're an asshole, then ask him to show you the rmr upgrades mitsubishi sells for the lancer. (rmr is rhys millen racing, a distribution company that makes some performance parts for the lancer). they aren't anything that's gonna make your car be able to touch kubo's civic, but they aren't bad. or you could go to the website rmrproducts.com. the us spec '02 lancer shares the same platform as the evo vii, and with a good amount of money, some innovation, and the RIGHT TUNER HELPING YOU, it can be a pretty fast car.

by the way, to all you "tuners" out there that care more about the way a car looks than how it drives, go spend $4000 on a body kit, add some stickers and undercarriage neons, go dyno test it, and see your hp gains up to 400%!!!!!!

Yeah I might be a dumbass for buying the auto but just remember it's my dumbass sitting in the house chilling in the morning hitting the button on my remote start when your outside in the cold starting your five speed. I know there will be plenty of aftermarket parts for the Lancer, but are they really going to be worth all the time and money for what you will get out of them? I have plenty of friends who have spent bank trying to get their SOHC Civics to run by throwing tubro kits and superchargers on them and after all that post times in the mid 15's in the quater. Most of them have since gone with motor swaps from GSR Integras, VTEC Preludes or DOHC Civic Si motors and run better times with the basically stock motor they just put in compared to the one they have just thrown 4 or 5 thousand dollars into. Most of those kits for the Civics only gave about 6 to 8 psi of boost though. What about the ones that will be availible for the Lancer, and compression as well it runs 9.5:1 that seems just a little to high to get the most out of the motor with a tubro, will it have to be changed?
