Just got my first bike, lil baby nija to start

Hi everybody I'm Curt, I just got a '94 ex250 and can't wait to ride it. I haven't insured or gotten a helmet yet but i have to get it running good first. Does anybody know where I can find some good troubleshooting/general maintenance/just plain good information about taking care of the bike? Right now it will start and idle and even ride around a lil but it's choking itself with gas (gas out the mufflers & carbs) I cleaned out the airbox, checked the carb bowls for gunk, and put new plugs in it, but besides the idle i don't know much about adjusting the bike. I've been working on older cars for the last few years but this is the first time i've touched a bike, sure like it alot more lol. Can't wait to get out and do some cruisin (it's all i want to do after roofin all day). Anyways, anybody have any ideas on what i could do before I just end up taking it to the Grey Boy Kawasaki dealership Tues?

get a service repair manual. They tend to have a lot of useful info and tips.
