idle control tip from other thread does it work on 99 2.0?

Someone suggests on the idle control (on top of the intake manifold looks almost like a mini starter) that you can take it off the car and clean it up and lube it up with wd-40 and your good as new.
New from autozone this unit is $59.00.

My car seems to do like the other post mentions the idle is not the greatest more so with a/c on. and those symtoms suggests the idle control. Is there a way to conferm this problem or just try the wd-40. If I were to try the wd-40 would I need a new gasket or could I just rtv it?

only a dealer can confirm. I'd cleaned mine out with WD-40 and canned air. Also look into changing your plug wires, made a world of difference for me, more than cleaning the IAC.

Thanks for the insight so you actually did the wd 40? can you give a rundown what you did. Did you take it off to do it? As far as plugs go yes I did do that in fact I used to have a "buck" everytime I went into 2nd gear but after a tune up the buck went away. I did some reading and found that buck was from a breakdown of spark IE spark leakage which I found at night that I had. Even after the tune up the car is crappy then I'd like at idle.

I simply took it off (reused the gasket) flipped it over, sprayed WD-40 into it, about half full on each side, then shook really hard, then sprayed out with canned air (cuz I don't have a compressor). Then repeat...lol...I used about a half a can of WD-40 and almost all of my canned air (the big cans). Then I just slapped it back on, didn't even wait for the WD-40 to dry (it's flammable anyway).
