Question different types of ka engines

now im confused about which ka engine to tune is it true that the 89-94 models 95-96 and the 97-98 have different types of ka engines??? I dont want to swap but I would like to tune the best ka no matter what model although in my opinion the 93 and under models seem to look better I think because of the trick headlights.... 89-90 have a SOHC KA24E
91-98 have a DOHC KA24DE
We have been over this many, many, MANY times!
The only difference is that 96-98 have OBD-II, but it's not exactly a performance upgrade.

You can buy a 89 and be "all right" a 93 would be "somewhat better".

Re: different types of ka engines

yes.

89-90 SOHC
91-94 DOHC ODBI
95 DOHC ODBI I list this different because you could use this engine in a S13
96-98 DOHC ODBII

You don't really want ODBII

Re: different types of ka engines

If you get the S13, you can't swap a ODBII engine in without the ECU and putting a bung in the exhaust for the other O2 sensor. If you turbo, you would probably be better off buying a kit too, which I am not a fan of.(expensive)
