who can do this?

I am in process of building my dad's baby. It's a totally restored 71 heavy chevy. I'm making it fairly accurate but I just can't get the side decals right.

Can anyone please make this on a program (high res) and send me the file so I can print them out on my decal paper please?

I've tried, I've searched and just don't have the program/skills to make it look good.

here is what they look like (they look horible when I shrink it if I make them on bitmap)

Re: who can do this?

1st: are your stripes the right size and shape?

If yes, I'll see what I can do... I can try to make it at Flash MX format (vectorial) or Photoshop (.psd, .bmp, .jpeg...)

2nd:the color: is it black or dark blue?

I'm going to copy/paste your pic, and work from it. See what can be done...

Re: who can do this?

I've spent some time on the stripes... and thing came to my mind:

-I'm not sure about the shape of these stripes.
-even if I can draw fine lines with my software, I'm not sure a printer would be able to print it as thin as they should be in 1/24...
-I've been wondering if the easiest solution wouldn't be to print long stripes of 5 black lines that you could cut the lenght and shape you want (I mean the end can be cut / or \ )
-And then I remembered suddenly that something could do the job easily: the Letraline product from Letraset: it's a transfert that's usualy used for printing job...
Follow this link: http://www.letraset.com/eu/template1.asp?catid=3495

The 0.4 mm line could suit your needs, wouldn't it?

I feel you'll obtain the best result this way.
It's not that I'm giving up, the stripes are drawn... (have a look at: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/mechoui.soisy/stripes01.swf , and right clicking with the mouse over the Flash "anim", select Zoom)...

But I feel that's a tip (learned on TMM french edition years ago) that's worth a try...

What's others opinion?

Re: who can do this?

... And keeping in mind that in fact the result in 1/24 scale should look like on this pic:

See what I mean???: the rendering is a shade of grey, lines cannot be seen...
Being 100% accurate in 1/24 scale could mean not being accurate at all...

... Would a Master confirm that or not?...

Re: who can do this?

Labando, I agree with you completely.

The only way you could do it is if you set the resolution up to about 400-800DPI. Then you have the problem of scaling it back down while mantaining clarity.

Like you said, even if they were created, I dont even think an ALPS printer could print such a fine line. Maybe a lithographic printer.

Re: who can do this?

Doesn't somebody (perhaps Microscale of Railroad decal fame) make a set of stripe decals? If that's the case, you could apply each stripe one at a time, and since it'd be such a narrow decal, it would be simple to follow the curvature of the body with straight decals. It'd be more work to apply, but would eliminate all that work of designing the decals, which to me, would be much harder.

Re: who can do this?

Here's a scan of the result I managed to obtain with both *.psd and *.gif. Not exactly the best looking...

But maybe by just using the straight sections of the decal something can be done... Lines could be thinner - on the screen - but would it change something for the printed version?... Not sure.
I'll have a try...

Re: who can do this?

I've made a *.gif sample of straight stripes... size is 9000/600 pixels for a <10 ko file!

url is: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/mechoui.sois.../stripes04.gif

And the way it looks. It's a scanned print at both 8% and 3% of its actual size:

Your opinion?

Eddie, if you would like, you are able to purchase the decals from Keith Marks. I don't have the price, but here is a link: Chevy Chevelle
