Re: OIL CHANGE QUESTION 1997 Max 3.0
You don't have to remove any covers but it's recomended that you do. You can bend it back if you don't want to though. If you're changing the filter as well, use about 4.5 qts. If it's just an oil change, four qts will be plenty. And use 10W40

You'll get better mileage with 5-30. Also may want to use synthetic oil to maximize engine life and ease cold weather start-ups. (Don't use Castrol Syntec, It's not really synthetic)

Re: OIL CHANGE QUESTION 1997 Max 3.0
You have to watch with synthetic on higher mileage engines though. With the carbon and sludge build up that may be what is keeping alot of the engine seals closed such as the front or rear main seal. If you add a thinner oil such as synthetic which also has greater engine cleaning qualities, it may move that sludge away and cause a major and costly oil leak.

Re: OIL CHANGE QUESTION 1997 Max 3.0
hey whats up...use 10w30 and put 4 and 1/2 quarts..no more no less..do not go buy the dip stick it will give you the wrong reading on it..and the oil filter should be right next to the passenger tire in front...you shouldnt have to move anything...
