Hate EGR

I have a 1995 GMC Safari 2wd. And I am having no luck with the egr valve. I put a new egr valve on the Van about 6 months ago and now the trouble code 32 popped bck up. So i cleaned it out and reinstalled it along with a new gasket. And not even a week later the van starts running rough when i slow down and when it idles and the service light comes on again. So i cleaned it again and another gasket and 2 days later trouble code 32 again. So i got mad and spent 110 dollars on a new EGR valve and went ahead and put a new O2 sensor and now not even a week later Service light is on and the van runs rough and trouble code 32 once again. Im ready to throw in the towel. Please i would appreciate any help. Thanks

Usually if an EGR continues to clog up, it is due to excessive carbon in the intake manifold and exhaust.

I have seen many decarbonization procedures, and can't really comment on too many, but I have heard that SeaFoam is pretty effective cleaning everything out.

Hope this helps.

Check that, during acceleration, there is vaccum or suction in the EGR's vaccum hose and diaphragm is moving, check it with your finger. If there is not, check for leaks in vaccum hoses to the MAP sensor and from there fo the fuel injection carb.

Re: Hate EGR

it sounds to me that your problem may be due to malfunction of the egr triggering signal!

i would first check for proper operation of egr (in accordance with your service manual).

next, to preclude any intermittant egr malfunctions, i would closely examine the entire egr circuit for conductor integrity. this would include a visual inspection as well as continuity checks. be prepared to look inside any wire covers and harnesses. you may well have a pinched wire otherwise damaged circuit.
