transmission
How much torque can the manual transmission in the gst spyder handle?
Also does anybody know where I can by a higher torque transmission that can fit in the Eclipse Gst Spyder, because i want to put a turbo kit on my eclipse and i don't think the stock transmission can handle the torque the turbo will create. Last edited by Greenflashsupra; 07-16-2004 at 09:54 AM. |

Re: transmission
a GST has 214 lbs/ft at 3000 RPMs from the factory. if you swap an auto transmission you get 220 lbs/ft

Re: transmission
do a search in the forum, something similar has been covered before. upgrade to a better quality high stall torque converter, it'll make all the difference.

Re: transmission
There are no other transmissions. The best you can do is get it built with the strongest individual parts from the various years, but I dont know what those are for FWD. USually you will spin the tires long before torque will damage a FWD tranny, but wheelhop will kill them. So rather than try to change something that you cant, I Would focus on anti wheelhop mods. Decent suspension, solid motor mounts, etc.
