Spark plugs
I have a 2000 Max coming up on 60,000 miles. When should the plugs be changed and how can I do it myself? Also is there anything else I should do like drain the trany, pcv, fuel filter, coolant etc?

Re: Spark plugs
Platinum plugs are rated to last until 100K but I suggest changing them at 60K. Or, if you don't want to change them yet, just take them out, apply new anti-seize and wait until 100K. The reason why I always suggest changing at 60K is because I've heard of some people's plugs not coming out at 100K. Now, if you put new anti-seize on at 60K, you won't have that problem.
Yes, you can do it yourself. Go buy a Haynes/Chiltons manual for $15 and it'll walk you through it. On the 4th gen (I know you have a 5th gen), you just remove the engine cover, unplug and remove the coil packs then stick the new spark plugs in. Be sure to use anti-seize though. There's a whole 60K tune-up that you should do; refer to your manual but what I'd suggest is: Spark plugs Fuel filter Air filter Clean throttle body PCV valve Coolant flush Oil change ~THT |

Re: Spark plugs
Then you're wasting money; not even coppers go out at 15K.
