88 2.8L cavalier, 43 trouble code?

1988 cavalier z24, 2.8 L auto. Check engine light came on and is giving me a 43 code, is that the knock sensor? Should I just replace it?
I cleared out a previous 15,21,23,43 and 53 codes and all i am getting now is a 43.The engine barely runs and major black smoke from exhaust.
Any help would be great.

Go here. It'll tell you all the codes for any year car out there. I looked yours up and nothing under an 88. Try an 89. Maybe yours was a late 88. In 89 the 43 came up.
