Cavalier confusion

Hello,

I ahve a 2.2 1995 cavalier. SOmetime back mechanic told me that head gasket is blown. I got suggestion, put bars leak, I put is and leak diminished drastically. I have not replaced coolant in between services. Does that mean that problem is gone?
(1) Now I have this temp sensor gone(as per mechanic). Is that related to blown head gasket?
(2) how to know that bars leak has taken care of my problems as I have heard it messes up oxygen (??) something too and the engine.
Please help me with this and thanks in advance for your inputs.

The problems are not related. Bars Leak will have NO effect on the Oxygen sensor. The head gasket is not fixed, but if you take it easy it may hold for a pretty good while. It will need to be repaired. Good Luck.

Thanks Public for your reply. I am total novice here who just know how to drive I did not get your comment 'take it easy' . Do you suggest I donot go for long drives, or I drive less in town too?
My head gasket has nearly stopped leaking, I changed the oil too. I am a bit reluctant as repairing head gasket costs too much.

"Take it Easy"= No towing, No Road trips, No mountian climps, Try not to over heat it. Use it no more than necessary. I have seen them last for over a year. But whenever it goes it will not be a good time. Good Luck.

I put bars leak in my two company vans per my boses instructions. Lasted about 6 months then the radiators blew. Thats right blew the welds broke. And the funny part is the last one this happened to. It was raining so I didn't know. But boy did it heat up. I think the bars leak gummed up the thermostate and made it stick. I would never put that junk in my car. Just get the gasket fixed.

I have seen this happen as well. The stuff is meant to get you home, not make a perment repair. Kinda like "fix a flat"
