mkIII MAF cleaning?
95 Jetta 2.0
What is the best wat to clean my MAF? I know that some carb cleaners will leave a film on the the MAF and render it useless!! I get oil residue in the intake hose and in the MAF. Is there a special brand of cleaner? |

Re: mkIII MAF cleaning?
Yup, electrical contact cleaner. Buy a spray can at Radio Shack, etc. Remove MAF, spray both sides, letting stuff drip away. Cleaner can freeze when it hits atmosphere, so allow ice to dissipate before re-installing.

Re: mkIII MAF cleaning?
I use rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. Get some that is at least 90% as there is cheap stuff out there. Do not touch or use a brush on it, only soaking is allowed. I haven't had too much luck with cleaning as a repair when you get MAF related CEL's, only when you can actually see the physical contamination.
