Unhappy 92 325 no start

My battery went dead overnight along with the starter motor 140,000 miles, replacing the battery the starter turned over slow and made some grinding noise, but would not start, then the starter motor made strange noises and died.I replaced the starter motor what a nightmare that was.Upon replacing the two fuel lines to the metal pipes under the intake manifold hoping they were right....fuel supply to the front rail, rear rail return line. Anyway when all done the car would not start i pulled the front spark plug and it did smell of gas, did a compression #1 and it was only 50 ibs could this be to much gas washing the oil from the piston rings or timing chain problem. Today i will replace the spark plugs.
Glenn.
