Deja Vu
What do you believe Deja Vu is? I get it a lot actually. I think that it is simply a random firing of whatever chemicals allow for recognization. Okay, lets say whenever you recognize someone, something as what it is your brain releases a certain chemical to a certain part of the brain. Like, you go to a car show and you see a Ferrari 360 Modena. You say, "Oh, I know that car, its a Ferrari 360 Modena". Or like when you go to school and you know exactly what your classroom looks like because you recognize it. Of course, these examples are linked to memory, but in certain instances lets say that your brain releases "recognization chemicals" spontaneously. You would feel that you remember that place, time, event etc. At least, thats what I think. What are you opinions on this unique phenomenon?

Re: Deja Vu
Your theory on Deja Vu does actually make sense. I can't possibly speculate what causes Deja Vu, other than the fact that it might have been something you, very coincidently, dreamed about while asleep and forgot about until a certain event happens that triggers the feeling. Of course if that happens, then we get into the whole argument about being able to see the future and stuff like that.
Anyways, it certainly happens to me quite a bit. When I sense it happening, I try to figure out what happens next. A lot of times, I'm right, which makes it pretty creepy. |

Re: Deja Vu
Deja Vu happens to me almost everyday. Also I dream about something and something alsmot exactly the same happens a few days later. But since it's a dream and happens later, I dont remember if it's happened or not

Re: Deja Vu
I agree with that. I have them regularly too. It seems that when i do though, that something flashes through my head saying "this is the one". Strange i know, but ohh well.
In an afterschool thing we have, someone said that your whole life flashes before your eyes, and you remember bits and peices through life. Then they said something about dying but i dont remember what it was. Hmm highly unlikely but something to think about. |

Re: Deja Vu
Fireball, you actually have it more correct that other one's I've heard
Although what 'deja vu' is, what causes it, is still a mystery to modern science, I think one of the most internationally acceptable theorys is the memory theory. Say you get deja vu, the theory is, is that when instead of your brain putting what's happening into your memory bank, it's putting it into your recall memory bank and it's trying to bring it up as a memory, that's *theoretically* why you feel like you've "been there" before. Make sence? Not 100%, but it's just a theory. Not mine of course!

Re: Deja Vu
I've had one of those "Did I dream about this, or is fucked up deja vu" moments, where I could actually predict what's going to happen. It's only happened once, and I was wrong in my prediction (so yeah...) but I tried hard
![]() I can't remember where or when this happened, or to what. But I do remember stoping in my tracks

Re: Deja Vu
i thought i commented on this already?
anyhow i use to think that a deja vu is when your eyes see something and your brain does not register it fast enough so you kinda end up seeing it twice

Re: Deja Vu
I think that sometimes deja vu comes from you knowing what will happen the next day or in a few days... you think about it and your mind thinks up exactly how it will be, then when it happens you remember that... ofcourse this wouldn't explain all things but maybe some... just a thought I had

Re: Deja Vu
actually, once I woke up at like 2:30 in the morning and was struck with some weird inspiration for a story, and I wrote a 3 page story right there for an English assignment, off the top of my head. I won several high-school writing awards for that story. Pretty weird stuff, but hey, I'm not complaining
