I've heard about them having active exhaust but since I have an SL I wouldent realy know for shure. I want to know also, someone please respond.

All VR-4s had the sport and touring mode system. but as for how it works I'm not sure. but yes you could do it. there is even a already existing electronically controlled system avilable on the market.

vr-4s came with active exhaust in which they can change whether or not their exhaust is quiet or loud, personally, its just another way to add weight, thanks mitsubishi

Why are our car's so heavy? Is there anythign we can do withought sacrificing much? (eg. I'm not gonna take out my AC to save weight).

That wont net you much in savings, they only weight like 15lbs.
If you are concerned with weight and have some cash, look into replacing your rims. There are a few sets that weigh under 20lbs each. Also switch in racing seats for the front two. You could gut your trunk and backseats, but there isn't much weight there to begin with. You could also replace your battery with a lightweight racing trunk battery, this will open up some space under the hood and help even out the weight from front to back. If you really have a grand lying around, CF hood and drive shaft are also nice upgrades.
