1999 Grand Am GT front end vibration

I hope someone can help me as I'm at my wits end. Whenever I brake I'm getting a vibration from the front end that seems exactly what you'd you'd get from a warped rotor. Problem is I just replaced the pads and both rotors. Then, when it didn't go away, I even exchanged the rotors again thinking I might have gotten a warped one from the factory....but the problem still persists. It's so bad that hitting the brakes over 40 mph causes severe shaking and vibration.
Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? The ABS maybe? The ABS lights are on because when I had the wheel bearings replaced the wires on one side got torn out. Could this be my problem?
I tried pulling all the fuses tied to the ABS (of which I think there are 5 or 6) but it had no effect on the problem.

Any thoughts?

Have your front tires checked. You may have a tire going bad and that is what is causing your problem. Remember the brakes only stop the wheels from turning the tires actually do the work. If you have a bad tire it would cause a problem similar to the brake rotors and since it could be an internal tire problem such as a broken cord have a tire shop check them for you.

Just put 4 brand new Goodyear Eagles on two weeks ago. Any other ideas? I'm stumped.

Check the tie rod ends and the ball joints to see if they are in good shape. Obviously there is something there and you will have to search for it one step at time. By the way did the car do this before the new tires were put on? If not one of the brand new goodyears could be bad or totally out of balance.

Welcome to the wondeful world of 1999 Grand Am brake dysfunction. There is a group of owners petitioning GM on correcting this problem. I have the same problem on my '99 G.A. I get a clean bill of health from what ever shop I take it to. The rotors heat up, the front end shimmys and the brakes grind , squeak, etc. It was and is a poor design. Aside from the front brakes I am satisfied with the car. Type in brakes on this website and just see how many threads pop up..
You will get advise from the experts out there, about quality brake pads and rotors, to shimming the wheel bearing etc, this could help, but I have had better brake performance on a 1966 Chevelle, than my beloved 1999 Pontiac G.A.
