Race Card #67-The Beginning of the New Beginning.

In much the same way as that little '55 Chevy of Smokey's ushered in the BowTie invasion of stock car racing, Richard Howard and Junior Johnson's little #3 Monte Carlo heralded the next wave of the invasion that it still going strong today.

Here's what happened in the second year of the assault when a combination of Johnson's whiskey running know how was combined with Allison's short track chassis magic and funded by the largest soft drink bottler in the world. It spelled trouble for the competition and overtime for the Coca Cola Bottlers. Just like the sponsor, Junior and Bobby were "the Real Thing.

Hey Luke, great stuff from you and Gator as always. Mind if we move these race card series posts to the new Motorsports forum?

Love to see the bowtie brigade large and in charge.

By the way, you wouldn't happen to have a spare MPC Hawaiin Tropic Chevy Laguna sitting around would you? I want that body BAD for a slot car. My Matador got all tore up.
