Replacement speakers

Have 95 Tracer, I assume this is the same w/ the Escort - need to replace the speakers, all are shot.
What sizes have you guys found to fit the best? I dropped some Sony 6.5s i had sitting around in the back, but they're a mite small - are they 6.75 or somthing? The 3-hole thing was kinda annoying b/c w/ the 6.5s the rim w/ all the holes in it fell just too small to use, had to use 1 of the "oversize" tabs that stick out of it.

also, the holes in the front doors seems to have a flange that sticks into the hole a bit, get in the way of the magnet of these Sony speakers.
Guess ?? is, somebody found a brand/size that fits nicely and won't cost me a fortune?

I used 6 1/2s. But I did notice 2 things:

1. If you mount them center (because i put 3 way speakers in and set them how the directions showed) They grounded out real easily and it was driving me nuts so I had to mount them sideways.

2. Since I put these aftermarket speakers in my front doors. The windows don't go down all the way anymore I mean they go down enough for a nice breeze but you can't stick your arm out anymore

Hope I helped ya

By the way. I used a brand called DUAL. They cost me $20.00 I mean on a scale of 1-10 theyre like a 6. But they produce probably the best sound ever in a 20.00 range. And i run a full system in my car

Re: Replacement speakers

If you go on Crutchfield.com you can order mounting hardware for any type of speaker (including Sony's).

I just bought 4 Sony XPLOD's for my 'Scort, they're 6.5 and the actual holes were rather low, so I popped 4 new holes in the door and put some good screws in there that would hold the speakers, then cut the screws off that came with the Xplods, cut the plastic grille off in the door panel and put the Xplod Grilles on the door, and popped 4 more holes a little farther in the door with a drill bit and put the shortened screws in.

They sound really good.

As for the deck, I havent installed them YET, because my current speakers dont even work, and I've been messing with them trying to get them to work and cant.
