Jetta TDI Performance

Family is considering getting a Jetta TDI because of its amazing mileage and the reliability of VW diesels (right??) plus cheaper gas...What I cannot find is any performance numbers or opinions. Let's be honest I am not gonna street race anybody with this car, but I need to know if it has the power to move quickly around town, and passing on highways...if anybody has info I would appreciate knowing... oh and same goes for the passat TDI

Here is the truth... you can street race with this monster without a problem.... I DO.
Stock 1.9 TDI engine is 90 hp, and I think 170lbs ft tourque. No with the Upsolute chip, tuning box, and alot more you can get around 130 hp, and way more tourque. check out this forum www.tdiclub.com this is the forum for TDI's
