1996 Lesabre Serpentine Belt Replacment

Is it my imagination or some sort of illusion, but it looks to me like the belt goes around what appears to be a motor mount. I can follow the path but where the belt goes around the alternator then back to large pully and up to a small pully it looks like you would have to take a bar off and slip the belt under it. The bar I think is a motor mount andI can't imaginehaving to take that off just to change a belt?

Anyone have any really quick advice on this.

Yes, there are some years where the motor mount is in the way when you want to replace the belt. I have been careful not to buy LeSabres in those years. I am not sure exactly which years do and don't, but I know my '89, '90, and '95 LeSabres do *not* have this problem. My '91 Park Avenue doesn't either. Just search the LeSabre forum for "belt," and you will get hits for several posts where others have dealt with this issue, and without too much trouble, I believe--I saw some just last weekend.

If anyone does have a comprehensive list of which years have this problem vs. which ones don't (going back say 15 years), I'd love to see it.

I told you wrong...search the *Park Avenue* forum for posts that include the word "belt." There's several threads in there dealing with this issue. tman and flatrater team up on one with some useful detail. Check it out.

I also saw a post from a "kaspr" that said that '95+ models (P. Aves, I assume) with the Series II 3800s have this goofy routing issue.

Thank you. I did some recomendations on supporting the engine to do it but opted to take it in. Too much of the motor mounts were to difficult to get to and I ended up having a badpulley that cused my problem to begin with and a bad water pump. Thanks so much for your reply.
