02 Silverado doesn"t want to stop!
My 2002 Silverado seems to have an exessive amount of travel on the brake pedal but the dealership says everythings OK. The real problem is on an incline such as launching a boat, I amost went into the river. The pedal went all the way to floor and when i stopped my back bumper was in the water. I have an 18 ft aluminum boat so its not like I have a heavy boat. I have a hard time believing this is 'normal'. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: 02 Silverado doesn"t want to stop!
Probably what's going on is that when the dealership told you everything is okay, he probably meant just when you're driving the truck itself and not hauling something. It probably can handle its own weight alright, but any additional weight may make it do what it did at the lake. If i were you i would look into getting new brake pads... possibly? Im not really sure, but that does NOT sound normal. Just my two cents, hope its of some help.

If your brake pedal went to the floor than it sounds like maybe your rear brakes need adjusted out some. But wait, this is a 2002 right? Do you have 4-wheel disc?

99's and up new body style are 4 wheel disc. Ask your dealer since he won't fix it if he will pull it out of the lake for you for free next time. Take a wheel off and inspect the pads. If it has never had a brake job it's probably time. If the pads look good on the front and rear take it to a different dealer.
