Dumb question but i gotta ask

HI First and for most I have checked the FAQ and how 2 threads but they don't help much:

Basicly i need to strip a kit of its paint and im in ENGLAND UK so no CSC or what ever its called the nail polish remover that i can get hold of is to dangerous and screws the plastic big time so can't use that! so guys help a buddy out and tell what i can use to strip the paint with out destroying the plastic and I can get hold of england uk and cheaper the price the better!!! If any guys in the uk have had good experience on some strippers tell me what they are and where you got them from thanks, also I need to know is it wise to strip paint of small parts like suspenion rods (the little pieces basicly)

the very best paint stripper is brake fluid, the paint just falls off the car ,just let it soak for a few hours
you can get it anywhere.the cheap stuff is like 3 bucks here in canada, so in england thats probaly 1 dollar lol

This tip is quite well known, now... It may be added to the FAQ, I feel... With little things like: time of BF bath, kind of "bathtub", top closed or not, use of gloves, best doing on interior/exterior, and all that kind of things...
Isn't there any "BF master"* to do it?...

(*: just a section of the "SC Masters": spray can masters... )

are you guys sure brake fluid won't damage the plastic?
if not the bodies how about small bits will they get damaged

comes in plastic bottles doesnt it :P the fuild bottle in my car is plastic :P

it doesnt damage the plastic. ive had some bits of sprue in my ice cream tub of brake fuild for months now! does make them a little brittle after a few weeks thou, but there no way you should need to dip for that long.

I soaked my Tamiya Lotus Europa in DOT4 BF and it melted the bodywork to, besides the paint. I had never experienced this before, so take care and use low DOT BF so you won't get a nasty surprise. If you painted with enamels you can also use caustic to dissolve the paint, use proper protection as this will eat through the skin :22yikes: as well as the paint.

here in the states i use dot3 brake fluid
never had any prob. use it on both 1/24 and
1/10 scale plastic. my tamiya bruiser has
been stripped about 5 times as i grow tired
of the color fast

I do think BF will remove putty as well, that's about it tho.

dot 4 will destroy the body over time, i lost one i for got about.
the best thing to do is to let it sit for a few hours then brush it with an old toothbrush while occasionally dipping it in the tub. This usually works extremely well before it goes through the paint to the body. then clean up with hot water.
Dot 3 is not as harmful but still as affective.

Brake Fluid, a soft tooth brush, and a good washing with soap and water for afters.
