Jusst purchased 1999 GJC with 58000 without reviewing any of these forums-first mistake. Now finding although test drove and started fine first day, on second day hot humid rainy the engine fires and starts but then cuts out immediately. Flooring it per manual to clear possible flooding does no good. Srtill waiting for transferred Jeep warantee so hesitant to go to shop yet. Some other threads suggest crasnk position sensor orPCMbut with slightly different symptoms. Any suggestions?

Re: Starting Problem
Two easy things to check are 1. your battery posts to make sure they are absolutely shiny bright and 2. reset your security system (see your owner manual, but my '95 resets by using the key in drivers lock). Hope this helps and that it's not more serious... both of these have worked for me at one time or another.

Re: Starting Problem
I am embarassed to report how simple the fix was. The previous owner gave us two keys. I failed to give any significance to the fact that I had switched to the second when the problem began despite my wifes suggestion that might be the problem. The next morning she tried with her key and started fine. Checked and found the second key was a replacement that had never been programmed.. Moral of story-listen to your wife!!
