1990 Ranger Clutch Job

I am attemping to intstall a new clutch kit. I can not get the hydraulic line of the trans. at the bell housing. The tool supplied with the kit seems to be a little flimsy. I was told to push in hard on the line and use the tool to push in clip, then pull hose out. I just can't get anything to move. Anybody got any suggestions?

I just did the same thing. Basically, the hydraulic line coming out of the slave cylinder is held in by bunches of teeth on that are pointed the opposite way that you want to pull the line out. The line tool you have, if it is the same one, just pushes the white sleeve on the hydraulic line into the female portion of the fitting, covering those pesky teeth up, allowing removal of the line.

You just have to push the hydraulic line into the fitting, while using the tool to push that white sleeve into the fitting as well, and keep trying to pull the line out until it finally comes. Don't give up easy, it took me near 20 minutes to get it.

Thanks for your reply. After going to the Ford garage and talking to several mechanics, they all said about the same thing, however on my connection the white plastic sleeve was almost gone and looked to be corroded and could not be moved. I just cut off the line and replaced it with a new one.
