Question catylatic converter

Anyone know about cutting out the converter in a 94 Z71? I have heard you can hollow it out and increase power dramaticlly.

I've heard stories like that too. But I don't know if I would do it, I've heard they run like crap too. With all the computers on vehicles these days, they are kind of sensative. I realize your '94 isn't the newest of new, but I had a buddy who removed the cat from an '88 and it ran so bad, he put them back on.

hollowing out the cat can be a bad thing because it can harm your vehicle performance and some vehicles have O2 censors on the cat, if your vehicle does then that will screw it royally!!! the best thing to do if u want more power is to find out weather or not ur O2 is on ur cat and if not find a muffeler shop to take it, its just not worth risking hollowing out.....

man i got a 91 silverado with a v6 had a flowmaster put on n had them pull my cat off.... runs so damn good... i mean it really made it faster... + mine was clogged.. but with urs being a 94 if it has 1 cat have the muffler shop do it n put a pipe in if u got one on each side of ur Y pipe i would look into it more cause it can effect the O2 sensor

Re: catylatic converter

Best bet is to go with a high flow cat and you can have the best of both worlds without violating federal law!
