Odometer not working

Bought a 95 eagle talon with a non-working odometer. I know, you guys are going to tell me I shouldnt have bought it blah blah blah, but I know how many miles the car has. (Did lots-o-research). Anywho, I need to fix it.

I dont exactly know what the problem is, but I should just be able to unscrew the 2 screws on the cluster and take it out, right? I'm hopinh this is just a loose wire, but what else can the problem be? Thanks

Re: Odometer not working

I know on the eclipse the odometer is electronic and can be "turned off" by pulling a fuse. The problem is that you loose your power windows, speedo, tach, etc. So it could be a fuse, but I don't know about the talon.

Re: Odometer not working

try checking over the tranny you have a connector, that one is the one that tells you how fast are you running check if it's plugged if it's, try changing it cause maybe is bad, other thing you can do is check the cable of the odometer

Re: Odometer not working

I dont have power windows, but everything else (tach) is working fine. Just the odometer and the trip-miles doesnt work. Ill have to check the thingy on the tranny tomorrow. It seems like the tach wouldnt work then neither, but ill check.

I am going to take out the cluster later this week and check the wires. I hope this is easy to do.

I cant see how many M.P.G. im gettting... lmao :-)

Thanks.

Re: Odometer not working

The lil piece on the tranny (the only one I could see) was already replaced by me. That tells the backups lights to turn on when in reverse.

I did try pulling out the cluster and check that. However, the cluster didnt seem to want to come all the way out. all the plastic connecters seemed fine. It's just simple plugins. They all looked good tho.

Another question: The dome lights and the light around the key-starter thingy no longer work at all. That could be a fuse, right? What fuse can that be? I didnt see any blown out.

Re: Odometer not working

The real big manual (I think its a hanes) shows what all the fuses do and where they are. I know that there's one online, but I don't remember the address. Its somewhere within the archives of this forum.
