Question New KL-ZE internals?

Well i was wondering what the costs of full KL-ZE internal swap would be...and a 0.02 overbore...if i got a set of forged pistons what would be all of the components included?.what other things would need replacing before turning the boost up high, aside from the clutch and trans...how much am i looking at for all those thing? I've been looking around like mad and i havent' found a thing...

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

i forgot the link to the website, but there is a site out there that sells either 8.5:1 or 11.0:1 pistons, with rods etc etc. They also sell titanium valve-springs, overbored TB's, custom intake manifolds. It is a really cool site. I think babybluemx3 would know what it is, cuz i think thats where he got his TB. Price for the set of pistons, rods and all that jazz was 1300$USD.

To get your heads overbored, you would need to go to a machine-shop and inquire how much they would charge. I have no idea.

The mods you're talking about are hardcore mods, and if you;re not ready to dump 10+ into your MX3... forget it.

agreed with mx3man...if you're going to do this...you have to got some crazy ideas behind your head...it's not going to be near cheap...
CZT is the place that sells forged internals for kl engines...it runs near 1300 for pistons, rods, wrist pins and bearing...they are all 0.020 overbore meaning you'll have to get your block overbore...it's going to run about 500usd$ to get it machined..nothing is installed yet and your bill is already up to 1800usd$$...BUT you can run boost like mad on this...and more boost = more time and money to spend to tune and everything involved...trust me you're going to spend a lot of money on this!!!!

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

yah i know that it will cost me lots of money...that about oh..i'm guessing 2500 for the whole deal, and then a turbo would be like what another 3000? Still though, 6000$ isn't THAT bad for double horspower eh?

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

no dude... lets say 3000$ for the car... 2500$ for engine swap and new suspension (you'll need it) 500$ for brakes (you'll need em), 2500$ for internal upgrades, 3000$ for turbo, intercooler, downpipe, turbo timer, etc etc... so thats $11,500CAD for a plain looking, but pretty SICK FAST MX3... not really worth it in my books. Because there wil be other things to fix, and face it, you're gonna wanna do at least a few mods to the body/interior. So suddenly, you have spent $15,000 on a 10+ year old car.

I guess it is a matter of personal opinion, but I would much rather get an MR2 or something and fix that up. Vivre Rear-wheel drive

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

so for 15 000 you could either fix up a precidia an make it amazing in terms of show, go and some ice on the side....or you could just go out and buy like, a used celica, 2000 intergra...not even an RSX..a decend 1990 MR2 maybe, THEN fix them up so for those cars it would WAy more money..plus you can do alot more mods to an mx-3, not nessesarily more over the counter mods but you know...its a diverse car and you could learn alot about engines from doing to mods that you listed above. Also, i'm only 15 right, so the MX-3 with be my first car, and it will last me long enough to mod it and make it fast...i'll have it for a very long time so yah i'll need to replace most of the parts, but most of em i'll end up replacing with performance parts...

IMO, mx-3s are were its at..FWD or not, its still worth the money. Thanks for you oppinion and information though...i'm trying to get as much info on these things as i can before i get the car so i can start modding it right away and know what to invest my hard earned money on first.

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

Nothing much for now. Integra Cold air, Brembo cross-drilled and slotted rotors, KYB GR-2 Struts, Suspension Techniques springs, Ractive Strut-Brace, and a fart-can on the back lol... parts I have, but that are not yet installed are Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch, Probe GT tranny, MSD 8.5MM ignition wires, KL-36 ECU, and a whole bunch of other little things i cant think of. Im just getting started though.

babybluemx3's mod list is pretty impressive though... but he's been working at it now for a while. Whereas I got my car in November of last year so Im still paying back debts.

Ya but that's done with the Eight Six (Corolla GTS {1985-1987}) and that car is almost a 20 year old car... and people still sink thousands in it... age means nothing... except closeness to becoming classic and rare which will eventually increse value... besides why buy something new and pay 20+ G's and get something or pay the same and set up a 5-20 year old car... by seting up an older car you get exactly what you want not what the manfacuturer offers you.

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

you know it buddy and ur talking about the Hatchi Rocku/Truno/86 tofu delivery car from initial D eh? lol aparantly they're acculy very good drift cars. Thats good proof of an old car with potential. You can set up a precidia exactly the way you want it for your needs

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

not just that one.. I have a friend who has ones... also it was the Drift King's first car and the car he made it big in drifting in... it was the Levin model.. not the Truno. Initial D is just one Anime Example of the Drift scene ( yes I like it and have almost all the Anime that has been released {fan Sub}) but ya the Eight-Six has a LSD in the back so it burns both rear tires it slides with relative ease. but ya I've done some readin on them ... I got into drifting because of Initial D but that's not where I get my car knowledge....

Re: New KL-ZE internals?

haha
awsome..yah i acculy read the artical on the Drift Kings car the other day, pretty cool. Some other guy got aan eight six and he made his lisence plate DFT KING but yah, i'm seriousely considering the forged internals. Even tho it would be loads of money, i think it would be worth it. theres a site called www.blaastperformance.com and they have a Garret t3/t40en as well as wast gates, intercoolers, oil plumbing, timers and controllers..and some other stutff but i was wondering if all the components you need for a safe turbo are on that site? If yes, than all the components come out to a obtou 2000 USD or 2600 CND
