Re: Mustang engine conversions
It is depending on how much you want to spend on it. You can also use the 4.6

Re: Mustang engine conversions
4.6L, 5.4L.
In the end, it'll probably end up being cheaper and easier to just sell the V6 and buy a GT. |

Your best bet is to find a rear-ended or rolled GT in a boneyard. You will need, at a minimum, the engine, radiator, complete wiring harness, and computer, the transmission, and I have no idea if they use the same rearend. I think that's the same, so...
You will also have to either install a GT guage cluster, get a custom one, or get yours adapted to having a V8. Now, assuming you have all this done and not a built up motor, you will possess the most expensive 14 second Mustang around. If it were me....I'd find a '95 GT or GTS and put on a quiet exhaust (catted H with Dynomax super turbos) with dumps, rig up a dummy single exit rear pipe (for that 6-cylinder look), swap the badges on the front, or lose them altogether, and put a rear bumper cover on that says "MUSTANG". Bonus points go for a screw-on chrome exhaust tip (one of the little 2 inch ones) and crappy paint. The V-6 wheels are a bonus too. Double bonus points go for WWJD fish emblems and/or "my kid is an honor student" bumper sticker. Realistically, building a sleeper isn't even hard anymore. I get asked all the time if my Cobra is a V-6, just because the rear bumper only says MUSTANG. Somehow the twin shiny pipes and flomasters and lumpity-lump V-8 rumble get overlooked
