Alclad is very hard when it's cured, so you don't need a protective coat on it. I don't know what happens if you would put on a clear coat, maybe the metallic finish will get ruined. Like Modelmaster metalizers, they look much better without a clear coat.

If you want a baremetal finish then there is no need for clearcoat.
However when a cleacoat is needed(for body shells or wheels etc) I use Johnsons Klear (Future). Cheers Farrokh
